"International" and "Canadian" News and Developments offer breaking news, current events and links to information that will keep you up-to-date about the issue of wireless technologies. Look for a variety of formats: videos, editorials and articles, current research studies and discoveries, and useful insights regarding the wireless controversy.  Many are duplicated elsewhere within our website, under specific headings.

"Alerts and Updates" contains informational action announcements.  These "short snappers" will be here and gone, usually within a one or two week period.

"Still Hot" contains information that remains especially relevant over time.

FortisBC's Ammended application to BCUC re their 'Smart Grid' Infrastructure Project

FortisBC is asking the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for their "Advanced Metering" Infrastructure (AMI) Project

This amended application contains a chronological summary (from July 26, 2012 to September 26, 2012) of the 15 steps that have been taken regarding FortisBC's application to the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) for approval of their Advanced Metering Infrastructure Project.  "Advanced Metering Infrastructure Project" is FortisBC's new name for what is known in other localities as the "Smart Metering Program."

This Application Summary includes Appendix A, which contains an amended Preliminary Regulatory Timetable for October 2, 2012 to December 14, 2012.

"The Commission determines that a Procedural Conference will be held in Kelowna to consider more precisely the topics to be reviewed by written and oral processes and to consider the regulatory agenda for the remainder of the proceeding . . .

"The Procedural Conference will be held in Kelowna, commencing at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at t he Best Western Plus Kelowna Hotel & Suites, 2402 Hwy 97 North, South Ballroom, Kelowna, BC, Canada V1X 4J1.

"The Commission will issue a further procedural Order and Regulatory Timetable for the continued review of the Application following the Procedural Conference."
