Smart Meter Safety to be investigated by Maine PUC
includes insightful commentary from Maine residents
This process in Maine is possible because Maine has a watchdog in the form of a PUC (Public Utilities Commission). In B.C., it was legislated in 2010 that oversight by the BCUC be removed. This was done to allow for the unrestricted and mandated rollout of B.C. Hydro's smart meter program. Hence, NO oversight of smart meter installations or "smart grid" rollout is currently required in B.C.
Maine Supreme Court ruled that the PUC regulators ignored their legal mandate to ensure safe, reasonable and adequate service. The action begins with a complaint filed by ten Maine residents.
Maine PUC July 24 deliberations: to investigate the health and safety of wireless "smart meters". Many Mainers attended and expressed their thoughts "on camera" after the commissioner spoke.
David Littell, Maine PUC, and Attorney Bruce McGlauflin introduce the legalities of the upcoming smart meter safety investigation in Maine. A schedule is to be developed and interveners called to participate. Witnesses are invited to document and submit their experiences with RF exposure. Ed Friedman, lead plaintiff, describes how to contact him.
