Personal Stories

Stories are important. Without them, we lose our connection with each others' realities and greatly limit our understanding.

Here you will find opportunities to see and learn through others' experiences and insights, and hopefully clarify your thinking, consider solutions, exercise empathy, or find your own voice.

Surrounded by smart meters

Cowichan resident experiencing health effects

"In February, I started having fainting spells and odd moments of dizziness accompanied by nausea and fatigue.

"When these spells begin, I feel light-headed, my body collapses, my heart races, and during the latest spell, experienced several hours of delirium. It's a little like heat exhaustion. I have been in the ER for two of these episodes only to learn that my blood pressure is normal, even a bit low, other vitals are normalizing, and as yet, medics have found nothing wrong with me. Extensive tests are to follow.

"I lead a fairly healthy low-stress lifestyle, there is no family history of problems of this nature, and I can't for the life of me figure out why this has suddenly started happening.

"The only thing I know that is different is that at the end of January, my neighbourhood, excluding me because I sent "the letter" to BC Hydro and pinned a copy beside my meter, got the smart meter. Unfortunately, my neighbour's meter points down my driveway and every time I come near to it, I feel pounding pressure in my head. I am very sensitive to electro-magnetic waves and microwaves and if I am in a "mood," can cause computers to fail. I am wondering if other readers are beginning to experience nebulous health issues that could, if pondered upon correctly, be caused by smart meters, particularly people with pacemakers?

"I found "Smart Meters - The Real Story" on YouTube to be helpful, as was an Internet search of smart meters and health issues.

"Does anybody have a plan for an inexpensive Faraday cage that I can build around my neighbour's meter? . . .
